Competition Programs

Okemo Mountain Alpine Competition Programs are designed with the long-term development of young athletes in mind. We constantly explore new ways of creating excitement. Our goal is to help competitors become the best that they can be. Whether the recreational competition path is chosen or the path to national championships, we strive to instill healthy competitive drive and the love of a lifetime sport. All competitors and participants must be a member of OMARA. Applicants must include initial OMARA dues.

General Information

Travel is not mandatory for any group, however, training at Okemo may not be available on competition days.
In our programs that require travel, Okemo Mountain is not responsible for travel arrangements.
Equipment in the Training Center must be stored in lockers.
Helmets are required by the United States Ski Association for all participants in Giant Slalom and Super G events, and are therefore required for training these same events.

Qualifications Guidelines

Applicants must be able to master the majority of mountain terrain and ride all lifts. All new applicants must be screened before acceptance. This is to insure the readiness of the athlete and the proper program placement. Screenings are conducted the first two weekends in December. Appointments may be made through the Alpine Competition Center.

$625. $600. 13-18 Years Old December 8, 2007 - March 8, 2008 Saturdays; 8:30-11:30 am & 12:30-2:30 pm Training daily through all recognized vacation periods. Top of South Ridge Quads Designed for the athlete who seeks continued technical instruction in both free skiing and gate training but does not want to compete.

Snowboarding

Training daily through all recognized vacation periods. The Pull Focus on competition and freeriding technical instruction. These fees do not include coaching fees for National Events. Must hold USSA, USASA license.

Junior 3

$800. $775. 13-14 Years Old November 24, 2007 - March 16, 2008 Sat. & Sun.; 8:00-10:30 am & 12:00-2:30 pm Times may vary after training groups are established. Training daily through all recognized vacation periods. Alpine Competition Center Must hold a USSA Competitors License and VARA License in order to race. Mid-Vermont and Statewide race series requires travel. Introduction to Super G. State Championships, Junior Finals, Junior Olympics. Must join OMARA.

Freestyle Skiing

Training daily through all recognized vacation periods. Top of the South Ridge Quads Introduction to Freestyle. Focus on mogul skiing in a competitive format. Technical analysis mogul and free skiing. Eastern meet schedule requires travel. Must hold USSA Freestyle Competitors license in order to compete. These fees do not include coaching fees for National events. Must join OMARA.

Private Training

Work one-on-one with an Okemo Racing Pro and you'll find one of the fastest ways to take your ability to a higher level. From racing to Freestyle to Snowboarding, our competition staff can help you advance. Private lessons are available for $90-100 per hour and can be booked through the Alpine Competition Center at (802)228-1483.
